Mason County High School Facility Carmeuse Campus

Project Description

Trace Creek was honored to work with the Mason County Board of Education to renovate the building that became the Mason County School STEAM Academy. The renovation project created new STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Agriculture and Medicine) classrooms and renovated an indoor track facility. The Mason County High School – Carmeuse Campus STEAM Academy is a modern, high-tech approach to learning that places students in a hands-on learning environment that gives them valuable, real-world experience that may lead them down the path to their future careers.

Renovating the former underwear factory into an innovative learning center was a challenge that Trace Creek relished. Trace Creek worked closely with the Mason County Board of Education and school officials to schedule the renovation to allow indoor track and field competitions to be held within the facility while construction was underway.

Ten new classrooms were installed, along with new lighting and a new roof. A new agriculture barn was built, housing its own associated classrooms. Trace Creek understands that our clients must live and maintain the building after the project is completed; that’s why we continually look for ways
in which to improve the ongoing maintenance and upkeep of a building. Because energy efficient buildings are good for both the planet and the wallet, new insulation was added to improve energy.

Trace Creek’s construction was completed on time and under budget, providing the students of Mason County High School a collaborative and state-of-the-art learning center to give them a jumpstart on the rest of their learning career.

The STEAM Academy has gotten a wonderful reception from the public after its opening for the 2015-2016 school year. We invite you to review an article from The Ledger Independent “STEAM Academy opens doors of opportunity” to learn more about how this new construction has created a learning-positive atmosphere for students.
